Stowe is the ski capital of the east and Sterling View is close to that action – only a minute or two drive up a quiet road from Spruce Peak and Mount Mansfield lifts, almost every window frames a view of the trails covered with snow or ablaze in fall foliage. Vermont ski houses began like this: comfortable, roomy retreats perched on a hillside, with storage for sports equipment in the mudroom and separate garage. On the main floor, open living space with vaulted ceilings, fireplace, a dining area and compact galley kitchen accommodate a large family plus guests – the house sleeps 12. Furnishings are included, retro upholstered pieces, a few antiques and, in the bedrooms, built-in dressers. The above-ground lower level includes an elongated bed-sitting room, also with fireplace, for après ski relaxation. If the rustic ski house motif isn’t your décor this 2,000 sq. ft. house would update easily. Given the incomparable location and panorama, at Sterling View anything’s possible.
