Employment in New Hampshire

New Hampshire’s preliminary seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March 2008 was 3.9 percent, an increase of 0.2 percentage points from the February rate, which was unchanged with revision. The March 2007 seasonally adjusted rate was 3.8 percent.
Seasonally adjusted estimates for March 2008 placed the number of employed residents at 714,530, an increase of 580 from the previous month and an increase of 4,540 from March 2007. The number of unemployed residents increased 1,220 over-the-month to 28,840. This was 1,070 more unemployed than in March 2007. From February 2008 to March 2008, the total labor force increased by 1,800 to 743,370. This was an increase of 5,610 from March 2007.
The unadjusted March 2008 unemployment rate for New Hampshire was 4.3 percent. This was unchanged from the February rate, which increased 0.1 percentage point with revision. The March 2007 unadjusted rate was 3.9 percent.
Nationally, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March 2008 was 5.1 percent, an increase of 0.3 percentage points from the February rate and an increase of 0.7 percentage points from the March 2007 rate. The national unadjusted rate for March 2008 was 5.2 percent, unchanged from the February rate and an increase of 0.7 percentage points from the March 2007 rate.
